Three of Cyprus main historical figures are Caterina Cornaro, Glafcos Clerides, and Aphrodite the goddess of love. Caterina Cornaro was the last reigning Queen of Cyprus during the Venetian period. Glafcos Clerides was the leader of the Greek-Cypriot Community. Aphrodite is the goddess of love and it is said that Cyprus was her island and birthplace. Some tangible geographic features of Cyprus are the Kyrenia Mountains, Troodos Mountains, Mesaoria bailiwick, and the Pedias River. The Kyrenia Mountains are also known as The Five Finger Mountains because of the Byzantine hero Dighenis imprint. The Troodos Mountains stretch crosswise the center of Cyprus and are very close to the Mediterranean Sea. The Mesaoria Plain lies between two mountain ranges and its name means betwixt the Mountains. The Pedias River never flows by itself, only by heavy rainwater from the mountains.
Three major exports of Cyprus are citrus fruits, potatoes and oils. Citrus fruits such as lemons and oranges are bountiful in Cyprus. Cyprus has an abundant supplement of potatoes. Cyprus has many natural oils.
