The Policy Process
The wellnesscare industry is one of the largest industries in the world. In 2008, the industry has provided 14.3 million jobs for wage and salary workers (Bureau of exertion Statistics, 2010). According to Bureau of Labor Statistics (2010), Ten of the 20 quickest growing occupations are healthcare related to. (Career Guide to Industries, 2010-11 Edition, para. 1). However, there is a dearth in health care workers today especially in breast feeding. Nursing shortage is becoming more ostensible today. The shortage is affecting the healthcare industry ball-shapedly and has influenced the rescue of optimal patient care. In the answer of evaluating the nursing shortage in the world, the scribe has come across some frightful facts. Rosseter (2011) stated that In March 2011, Dr. Jack Needleman and colleagues published findings in the New England Journal of Medicine, which indicate that insufficient nurse staffing was related to spiriteder patient mortality rates. These researchers analyzed the records of nearly 198,000 admitted patients and 177,000 eight-hour nursing shifts across 43 patient-care units at large academic health centers.
The data show that the mortality risk for patients was about 6% higher on units that were under staffed as compared with ampley staffed units. In the study titled Nurse Staffing and Inpatient Hospital Mortality, the researchers excessively found that when a nurses workload increases because of high patient turnover, mortality risk also increases (Nursing Shortage, para. 3). In addition, global nursing shortage is presenting competition and cooperation from countries desperate for registered nurses (Coates, 2001).
